New FAA Rules
Many of you already know that last week (the 26th of June), the FAA has issued a number of amendments to federal aviation regulations concerning the commercial use of drones (or unmanned aircraft).
We will not dwell on all the changes regarding the management of Drone, because FAA has made a fine job and explained everyting in detail in the following document: https://www.faa.gov/uas/media/Part_107_Summary.pdf
But as we get a lot of calls about this, let us dwell briefly on the main key points.
1) Who needs this license? The Remote Pilot License is needed only if you use the vehicle for business purposes. If you plan to use the drone only for fun or as a hobby you do not need it.
2) Do I need to register the vehicle? Yes, even if you plan to fly for entertainment, you have to register your vehicle. More information about the registration you can find here: https://registermyuas.faa.gov/
3) How do I get the Remote Pilot License? The process of obtaining differs for those who already have any FAA pilot license and active status (that is, since the last Flight Review or getting a license within the previous 24 months). In this case it is very simple to get the Remote Pilot License – it will be enough to pass an online course (https://www.faasafety.gov/) and submit an application form to the FAA (in printed or electronic form). According to the FAA and IACRA web sites the submission of an application will be available in August 2016.
For those users who do not have a pilot license there is an option of getting the Remote Pilot license after passing a computer test (Knowledge test).
We are pleased to announce that SkyEagle Aviation Academy will provide these tests beginning August 2016. Moreover, we are preparing a training program to pass this test. It is expected to be 1 or 2 days theoretical course to study the required sections of the FAR (the weather, the classification of the US airspace, flight operations regulations). If you want to enroll in these training courses to be prepared for the Aeronautical knowledge exam, please contact us: email@example.com
